Poet. Alternative signature: Geo. H. Ludolf. Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for Castles in Spain, published on 21 July 1900, lists his address as c/o Bishop & Co., Bankers, Honolulu (NLS Dep 341/371). Ludolf arrived in Hawaii in 1899, and by 1900 he lived in North Kohala, Hawaii; see 1900 United States Federal Census (Ancestry). Later in the year Ludolf was in Shanghai, according to the signature of his poem A Letter from Home, published in Chambers’s on 8 December 1900 (the ledger lists his address as c/o H. Ludolf, 31 York Place, Leeds; [NLS Dep 341/371]). His other Chambers’s poem, A South Sea Island (published 11 May 1901), is also signed Shanghai. (AC)
