The Old Year

Figure descriptions
An old bearded man stands on the shore of a large body of water. He hunches over with one arm supporting his back and the other supporting a large globe-like object which he carries on his shoulders. The object has Roman numerals on it. There is a small row boat on a body of water to the man’s right. The boat’s anchor is lying on the shore in front of the man. A small lamp sits on the ground to the man’s left. A flame emits from the lamp as well as a large, wispy plume of smoke. The smoke ascends the right edge of the illustration and moves across the top edge. The hand-drawn poem title, “The Old Year”, appears in the smoke near the top-left corner of the illustration. 1/2-page illustration partially contained within a single-ruled border on the left, top, and right edges. From the top, the illustration descends almost down the entire right side of the page but only 1/3 down the left side; the bottom of the illustration is cut on a diagonal line across the page.
