Sunset.

When stream and lake of golden light1
Among the ranging clouds appear,2
And mountain flowers on chalice bright3
Reveal the Evening’s crystal tear ;4
Then let me wander all along5
The shadowy lawn of wooded hill,6
And silent hear the thrush’s song7
Above the river broad and still.8
’Tis peace to see the meadow’s peace,9
’Tis joy to hail the glow around,10
As restless day and trouble cease11
On yonder sunset’s holy ground.12
