Figure descriptions
A man and a woman stand over a baby and look lovingly towards it. The baby lies on
a raised bed and is partially covered by a
blanket. The woman leans over the baby. She holds a single candle in her left hand
and uses her right hand to obscure the bright
light. The man stands behind the woman and looks over her shoulder. He wears a hat,
carries a parcel in his pocket, and slings a
bag over his shoulder. The bag appears to contain tools, branches, and a bottle for
liquids. A second woman observes the scene from
behind a shadowed doorway in the background. There is a small chair at the right side
of the illustration. The chair’s shadow is being
projected onto the three central figures. 2/3 page contained within a single-ruled
border. The top corners of the frame are rounded
and the bottom corners are squared.
