Figure descriptions
Two panels stand adjacent to the poem text, both of which feature an assemblage of
living things. The left panel is larger
than the right panel. It features flying birds, perched butterflies, flowers (including
bluebells), and a nest with five birds’
eggs. The right panel features a single cattail, grasses, plants with berries, and
a dragonfly. The poem text is let in to white
space at the centre of the illustration, and is contained within a border of sticks.
