Figure descriptions
The first words of the poem, “I SAW,” are illustrated in hand-drawn lettering on a
stylized ribbon. Below the ribbon, there is
a circular ornament filled with flowers, leaves, and a second ribbon. This ribbon
features the title of the poem, “SESTINA.”
Triangles and half-circles form an alternating pattern along the edges of the ornament.
Branches with leaves extend from the bottom.
