Illustration forms a border on all sides of the poem text. There are circular ornaments at all four corners of the border. All four ornaments feature a flaming heart (a sacred heart). The top two ornaments feature light-colour hearts on dark, dotted backgrounds. The bottom two ornaments feature this shading in inverse. At the center of the top edge of the border, there is an oval-shaped ornament with a crown of stars. At the center of the bottom edge of the border, there is an oval-shaped ornament with a crown of thorns. The remainder of the border is composed by four intersecting poles adorned with many kinds of plants and flowers. The plants and flowers incorporated into the border include ferns, lilies, and roses.
