Philologist and poet. Educated at the University of Tübingen. Studied law in Paris and set up his own private practice in Stuttgart. Married Emma Vischer in 1820. Liberal MP in Tübingen. Author of many poems with folk-song affinities including the ballads Die Rache and Des Sängers Fluch (1814) and the verse tragedies Ernst, Herzog von Schwaben (1818) and Ludwig der Bayer (1819).
