A middle-class weekly family magazine, unillustrated and costing 2d, Household Words (1850-1859) was “conducted” by Charles Dickens. Christmas issues were particularly successful Poems in Household Words are generally unsigned and often featured poetry. The magazine was amalgamated into All the Year Round, following Dickens’ dispute with the publishers.
