The First Night of the Year

Figure descriptions
Two figures stand outside at night. One stands in an open gate, while the other stands on a path and gestures towards the first figure. In the background, there are houses, trees, and the moon. There is snow on the ground and on the houses’ roofs. Illustration is contained within a circular border, which is then contained within a rectangular border. The rectangular border extends to almost fully contain the poem text. In the centre along the top edge, the word “January” is superimposed over a foliate shape, which partially overlaps with the circular illustration. 1/2 page.
