Figure descriptions
The hand-drawn poem text is let into blank space on a ship’s sail in the bottom two-thirds of the illustration. Ropes tie the sail to a central mast. The hand-drawn poem title appears on a flag which flies at the top of this mast. A large body of water is visible behind the ship’s prow. Grape vines form a partial border around the illustration. They ascend the left and right sides of the page, and fill in the upper third of the illustration. Grape vines extend horizontally across the top of the page. Bunches of grapes, large grape leaves, and twisted tendrils hang from the vines. Full page.
